Decision Design Deploys Custom Inventory Management System for Deluxe Media Management
Bannockburn, IL - 7/1/2007 - Decision Design Corporation, a leading custom software development firm, today deployed its newly developed inventory management system for Deluxe Media Management, a world leader in entertainment industry marketing fulfillment.
The new system, named DMx, was rolled out for production use for Deluxe Media Management's warehouse operations in Valencia, California. With this rollout, Deluxe is now able to begin decommissioning its 70 diverse custom inventory systems, all previously developed to manage warehouse inventory for its individual entertainment industry clients.
Deluxe's rapid growth in its business of shipping movie and television promotional materials resulted in the development of 70 separate inventory systems, each built to provide its entertainment industry clients their own custom order entry, shipping, inventory management, and billing functions. Eventually, maintenance and enhancement of such a diverse portfolio of systems became unwieldy and impossible to maintain cost effectively. These diverse systems also did not share the many world class client response practices for which Deluxe has grown famous.
In 2006 Deluxe Media Management made the decision to centralize all order entry, inventory, and warehouse management functions on a single system, one that would incorporate its many client facing business practices while standardizing on a world class set of warehouse operations practices. Deluxe reviewed many off the shelf systems, but with so many important individual relationships with its industry clients, a ''one size fits all'' system would be doomed from the start.
Deluxe decided to engage Decision Design in a ground up design, one that would accommodate Deluxe's commitment to its many Hollywood clients, but keeping these individual needs in a standardized warehouse system. With these goals in mind, Decision Design set out to design and implement a custom, web-based system that would revolutionize Deluxe's fulfillment business.
The new DMx system includes standard industry supply chain functions such as Order Entry, Warehouse Management, Shipping, and Billing, but adds industry specific functions such as custom order fulfillment, same day order fulfillment and shipping, and client access to order entry and shipping history functions.
With the new system, Deluxe will be able to give each of their client's an individualized order entry experience, but tied into a world class warehouse management system that keeps everything in order and streamlined. With their new system, built by Decision Design, Deluxe will be able to expand its business with less cost, all while maintaining its strong focus on its clients.
